I wonder

I wonder how much of depression arises from the world not being as you’ve been told it would be, from attempting to fit yourself to paradigms only to find that they are smoke and mirrors.

I’m a firm believer in Logotherapy, Viktor Frankl’s coinage/discovery/invention, that depression can be alleviated by believing that one’s actions matter, that one’s life has meaning and purpose through those actions. But I have some friends and colleagues who fight depression daily and are daily dicked around by those who don’t, shall we say, have my friends’ best interests at heart. The friends want to believe otherwise, yet never seem to correlate their feelings of self-worthlessness with those others’ guidance.

Which led me to the question, the wondering above.
